Default Symmetry

Here is one way to get symmetry when carving faces.

A contour gauge can be bought from a hardware store for less than $10 and it's a good investment if you carve faces.

First draw a center line on your carving and mark key points for a cross section, mark the center point of your contour gauge and set it on one of the key points, then turn it around and you can see where to make adjustments to balance the carving.

Someone asked this question (sorry, don't remember where) I hope this will help.

Those are brilliant...and fun! Just don't let your kids get them...and push the wires all the way out...
