Just thought I would share this with you. The other day I cut my finger to the bone a really nasty cut. Now emergency room waiting is not my thing and it can take up to eight hours to even see a doctor let alone get stitched up. Now this cut would definatly rate about 6 to 8 stitches. So when I finally got the bleeding stopped by the way it was right across my nuckel, I got some of that Dollar store super glue comes in 1 gram tubes called Adhaer put it on the cut and it works great. I had put a band aid on probably 10 times they come off in the shower and every time you reach into your pocket etc. Well the cut has closed now and no more bandaids it is not coming open all the time works great no infection either. Just thought I would share that with you. My daughter who is a nurse in emerg told me thats what he doctors use when they need to close a cut quickly. Probably not dollar store glue but it worked for me. Just in case you were interested. I wont gross you out with pictures of the cut somethings are better left to the imagination Colin

Gosh you are getting just like me and Garry. We do it all the time. I did see medical grade on the internet but I have just been using the stuff in the little tubes. Just a side note, don't glue the fingers of the other hand to the cut, don't ask how I know this! Goody

Colin and Goody I've done the same a few times too. But to be sure, make sure you keep your Tetanus shot current. Bob L

Colin, I have noticed that when I super glue a cut, that it doesn't get infected, Maybe the cyanide kills those little buggers. Hope you heal well, Tom |

I use it all the time. The latest "nick" was seen by wife and she SUGGESTED an ER trip for stitches. To keep peace I went. At the ER I asked the Doctor who was sewing me up about using the superglue. The Doctor said, " It's fine for small shallow cuts, but be very careful on deeper cuts". The Doctor went on to say, if the deep cut was flooded with the glue it might impede the regrowth of nerves." I don't know whether to believe the Doctor or not, she looked to be about 16 years old. Tom H |

I read somewhere that super glue was developed originally for medical use and was later packaged as the glue-all we use today. Many products we use daily were originally designed for other purposes or came about by accident like corell dinner ware. This almost unbreakable dinner ware came about when someone made a mistake while making the product then made another mistake by dropping a plate accidentally and was amazed when it bounced. Ivory soap didn't always float, someone left a mixer on too long and air was mixed into the soap and now it does. I bet there are a few of us out there that were accidents to but hey where would the world be without us ..... lol

Guys I suggest caution on this matter. You have to be DA%^ sure that the wound is SUPER CLEAN if you are going to do this. I had a soldier in my plt almost lose his hand to blood poisoning doing this. we were out in the field on an exercise and he cut his hand opening an MRE. Instead of coming to me and letting me take care of it he just glues the sucker together. Two days later he comes to me with a high fever and red streaks shooting up his arm. I chewed his hide the entire way to the hospital. It took him over a week and a huge dose of antibiotics to get over it.

I echo the making sure its clean first... here's another trick to go with it... keep a couple of packets of sugar available... helps stop the bleeding before you glue. Carve on... safely
