Have you tried nail polishing sponges. Not sure what the proper name for them are but Wally World has them. They are very fine abrasives on a firm foam base. Most of them have a corser side down to an extreme fine side. I have been using these with some very nice success. Hal

No answer that hasn't already been mentioned but I did get a few that I would like to try . I like the paper bag mandrel and the steel wool mandrel ideas and are new to me . Thanks for posting those .

This is ironic doncha think.........I was about to go to the garage and make some sanding sticks myself for this bird I have carved. But other than that, you can go into the model car section of Michaels, walmart target, wherever and get some sanding sticks that look like emory boards, they ahve dif grits on each side

I like the sanding sticks from Sally's beauty supply. (about a $1/00 each) Also can get them at "Dollar Tree" (4 for a $1.00)

Im gonna go with the sanding sticks, I made a few and they work great.
