Talking Re: spoons

Hey Keoma those are the Del Stubbs knives I had been talking about in my ladle thread. I think as a special birthday present my mother will let me order them tonight with her little plastic card, I will of course be paying for them. I am ordering a spoon carving set and a #2 open knife, been talking with Del and I think it must be his wife through the email last few days about a custom set of handles and everything from shipping to leaving the handles unfinished so I can put my beeswax mix/dip on them.
They have been very extremely kind and helpful there are a lot in Minnesota who are but they have been just great, answering all my questions and everything.
I can't wait to get my knives, I really enjoyed chatting with Del ya know he spent a lot of time in Sweden with Willie Sundqvist son Jogge. These two men from Sweden are one of the main reasons I started carving, crafting ladles and spoons like this where one of the very first things I tried. Now that I know what I am doing and have my sweetish carving axe, and when I get my Del Stubbs knives I will really be able to make nice spoons.

If ya want to see a picture of my axe I could post one in the tools area.

Thumbs up Re: spoons

Here is what ya seen in WCI I would guess BigDave, I have the issue in my file cabinet I think it is #15, in its binder and plastic cover with the locks and all just like the rest of my WCI set.
wci-1 Review

Keoma if ya order a set of Del's knives let me know, not sure how long it will take to get mine but when I do get them I will be posting a review and pics.
They where extra helpfull at pinewood forge, replied to all my emails very fast and such with all the info I asked about. Ha my mom had a fit when I told her I was buying some knives, since I do make my own and I think they are not to shabby. But when I seen pics of his and found out what steel he uses I knew I would buy some.

Del's tools are top end. I have all of his sloyds, his closed hooks (right and left) and a #1 open hook. They are excellent tools to use, come perfectly setup for use right out of the box and are easily maintained.

I cannnot praise them high enough....they make spoon work fun.

This birch bowl still in progress has Del's sloyd and open #1 hook shown.

Birch carves awsome, it is similer to Birch and also Birch um it is easy to work wet or seasond in my opinion. Takes detail very great, is often straight grained and figured yellow birch is one of the most beautiful woods in the world. I orderd my set I am having some special stuff done to them, Del was really really helpfull and I can't even begin to thank him. I have to wait a week or two because he is going to make them from scratch and to my specifics.
