| I’ve participated in this type of thread before on a woodworking forum that I belong to and thought if this hasn’t already been done here it would be interesting to do. I for one like to see how other shops and studios are set up, you never know where a good idea might come from next. So I will start you off with a tour of my shop, which is a single car garage in its former life that is ever evolving to suit the current project or next idea. The first picture is looking through the main door into the 21’x11.5’ shop. The Delta table saw is set up at this end to maximize space and for ripping long material by opening the overhead door. Also at his end is a dust collector on wheels & misc. stuff. Picture two is the always-expanding shop library with some misc. wood storage. Picture three shows some power tools, Jet 6” jointer, DeWalt 13”planer & Jet 14”bandsaw w/6” riser block. Picture four has a bench for using “bench top tools” more storage and some carving ribbons above the back door. Picture five shows my Sjoberg bench, which also double as an out feed table for the table saw. A small drill press, misc. tools & carving tool boxes. Well there you have it. Thanks for coming, don’t forget to leave .50 cents at the door for the tour. |

Please tell us you just cleaned it! Beautiful shop. The layout sure looks workable, and I love your Sjoberg bench. No, you can't see mine....it's a mess. Thor |

| Hmm… I always keep a clean shop. I like to keep things in their place so I can keep track of them. I spent seventeen of the last twenty years in a one-man shop working as a stonecutter (granite not diamonds) and always kept the shop picked up and tools in their place. That’s just me; I’m kind of anal that way (can I say that?) If you could see the floor on the other side of my bench it has the makings of a woodchip carpet. If your shop is a mess, show it off anyway. It doesn’t bother me unless your using my tools then you better clean up (grin) Come on, there has to be someone else willing to post pics of their “work area” I’ve seen pages of woodworkers shops. I wana see your carving shop/studio |

| Hey Bob I tried carving on my lap with a towel on my first carving. All I had was a bench knife and a block of wood. I ended up stabbing my holding hand when the wood split on a stop cut (stitches required) The first thing out of the LOML’s mouth was “don’t bleed on my couch & carpet” Hey Tom check out the left extension wing of the table saw it houses the router under it. I had a dedicated table but it took up to much room. |

Tony, I too like it when people post pictures of their workshop. It does help in getting ideas on how to possibly improve my area or to appreciate what I have, ha-ha. Right now, my carving area is in our basement in the utility room. My 14 inch Delta bandsaw on rollers is in the garage. When I do a cutout I just roll it out by the driveway so that most of the dust does not end up in the garage. I then take the cutout downstairs. The pictures show some works in process and several carvings that are ready for paint. My biggest problem is trying to figure out a better way for storing my tools. Basically, they are just laying out on the table and it is not the best situation. I do need to get better organized with tool storage. That's why I like seeing what other people do. I would really like to build a nice toolbox for my gouges and knives, but I just haven't taken the time to do that yet. Chipper67

Tony, How did I miss that router hangin there? Maybe if I start tomorrow morning and work non stop for 12 hours and fill at least one dumpster I would have my shop ready to share. Oh well, at least maybe I now have an excuse to try to clean it up...Tom H
