Default Semi Famous

Since there is no "Shameless Bragging" section, I'll post this here.

Awhile ago, I posted a mod I made for my Worksharp 3000 to strop the inside of gouges. Woodcraft Magazine has a bi-monthly contest called "Tips and Tricks." I submitted my mod and won for the Feb/Mar issue.

They published a line drawing based on the photos I sent. Today I received a couple advance copies of the mag and a nice gift card. I immediately orderd the Foredom TX kit I've been coveting, the new Pfiel hook skew and a couple of other things from Woodcraft online (free shipping till the end of the month btw).

The pics I sent and the article are posted below.

Nice Job David and good thinking
Obviously you must use your workshop a lot. I bought one thinking that it was the one for me but I hardly use it. I bought it thinking I could sharpen my carving knives with it ( but I cant ) and I am kinda shy to try and sharpen my gouges thinking that I would mess them up.So all that I have used it for was to sharpen my carpentry chisels( a one time deal ) Any tips David ?
Thanks

Thanks guys, Whitler does Norm have his safety glasses on in the pic? I've got one of me in headphones, but it costs extra.

JohnT, I do use the Worksharp for stropping constantly. I also use it to remove material from the heel of gouges that are too steep. I don't go all the way to the edge for this process because that's more of a commitment than I am willing to make very often--I wanna carve not sharpen.

When I do go all the way I use the Worksharp to take the edge back to a white line, then remove the bulk of the material, until the line gets thin, then I switch to Norton waterstones to finish.
