Default Sanding tip

A while back someone suggested using drywall screening to sand carvings. I remember the post and remember commenting that maybe a screening disc would work well. The other day when I was at Home Depot I picked up a package of Drywall Screen. I have posted a few pictures of the discs I made by using a 2 inch sanding disc as a template. I then traced around the sanding disc and measured to make a centre hole. Then using a couple of worn out sanding discs as backing I put the drywall screening discs I cut out onto a mandral using a washer on the top and bottom of the discs. I had puchased a Dremel 1100 Stylus a while ago they run on lithiim iom battery that is rechargable. (Cost in Canada around $75.00) Well let me tell you it works great far better than just the sanding discs last much longer. The great thing is that they come in different screens I used a 150 grit but you can get courser or finer grits. I am sold does a great job. I still hand sand for the final sanding with a 200 grit sandpaper. Hope this helps some of you that have sanding problems. Just one note it will not get the really fine sanding around the face etc you will still have to used mico sanders to get that.
Colin

Motor speed about 8 on that model Dremel on other dremels about 3/4 speed. Now with heavier screen you can run it full speed just wears a little faster.
