Default This is really interesting

Hi Gang,
I just came across this and thought it would come in handy for some of you who are like me and getting up in years. Isnt it funny the small things we dont know about computers.

I just found this out and thought I'd pass this on. It's very useful when trying to read small print (especially in the early hours). If you hold down the Ctrl key on your key board and then turn the small wheel in the middle of your mouse away from you or towards you, the print size will change - it will either get larger or smaller - depending on which way you turn the wheel

If you hold down the Shift key when you click on a link, it will open the link in a new window.

Since one size does not fit all, nor is one operating system the only operating system worthy of comment...

On a Macintosh, click Option - Apple - 8 to turn on Universal Access. Once it's on, press Option - Apple- + to zoom in on the screen, or press Option - Apple - - (option - apple - dash) to zoom out.

Oh, and when you want to capture something from a web site you vist, such as a screen shot of a fantastic piece of carving, press Shift-Apple-4; the cursor changes to a plus sign. Click on the upper left area you want a screen shot of, then drag down to the lower right area, and when you let up on the keys, you'll hear a camera click, and he grey area will be saved to your desktop as a file "Picture xxx.png" or "Picture xxx.pdf", depending on the version of OS X you have. It can be opened by any image viewer, including web browsers. This is a really great way to save an image of a carving on someone's web site so you can create your own carving of it. Proper attribution of source is always a good idea.

And if my two glasses of wine make the above unintelligible, please send me a private message, and I promise I'll respond before the sun dips below the yardarm...

Claude

Colin, it did not seem to work for me. I logged off and went to carve. My wife started the computer up - "what's wrong with the computer?"

It worked, but was delayed for some reason.

Don't make the mistake of hitting the shift key and "spinning the wheel"......it scrolls back to previous pages (sites) visited. This is the second time I had to type this.
