When your sandpaper, on disk & belt sanders get loaded up with pitch. Have you ever tried those crepe rubber cleaning blocks ? They work real well. It really extends the life of your sandpaper.
I had some old crepe soled shoes ready for the trash. I figured to try them as a cleaner, & they did the job.
So I got a few more miles out of them old shoes.

I've used them off and on for years and they do work but I think the ones you buy do a better job.

yep have heard of that, but you know, I think I have only had one pair of shoes with that translucent sole on them in my whole life! lol

I was going to make a crack about you've only had one pair of shoes in your life, but then remembered you live in Arizona, where you can fry eggs on a stone in... March thru...November! Shoes are definately a part of life in AZ!
When we first moved to Florida 12 years ago, there were local adults downtown all the time who'd never owned a pair of shoes, never needed them or wanted them.

if you can find real rubber not a tire, it will do the same, but it cant have any silicone in it.

i been using tank pads for years not available to everyone, they are pads that are installed between the tank and the traler frame on 18 wheeler transport fuel tanks.

there has to be many other sources for real rubber that dont melt.

but even if you dont find it the belt erasers are only about $5.00 at harbor freight, and they look and smell lots better than an old boot hanging on the wall..... HAW

in this day and time of tight money and higer priced gas and utilitys along with increasing medicin bills im all for saving anything i can use for subitutes...

the shoe if you have them is a great idea, it saves your belts and disks and extends the lives of them for a long time, which otherwise they would clog and be tossed away....

I think I paid less than $4 at a big box store. I have also heard that the crepe soles don't do quite as well and wear out quicker. I have been surprised at how slowly the one I bought is wearing. Not a lot of motivation for savings here, but reuse isalways a good thing.

I work at one of the big box stores also and every fathers day they sell the large leather moccasins with the crepe sole on them..Last year I bought 2-pair for $6.00 when I wear one pair and use the other pair in the shop for cleaning sanding belts and disks..we those moccasins are clearanced..they are way cheaper than the regular crepe blocks.. one pair should last a long time
