Default painting/dipping holder

This is really simple to make. All you need is an eyebolt and a brass acorn nut. These are 3/8" coarse threads.

Clamp the nut in your vise and drill a hole from the underside. Drill size depends on the screw diameter.

Slip a screw inside and tighten down with the eyebolt. I tried a regular bolt but the eyebolt is much more handy. The nice thing about this besides being easy to make is you can easily change screw sizes if you want to. I had to grind down the diameter of the screw heads just a tad so that they would slip past the threads.

Great idea Terry, comfortable, and you can even hang them on something while things are drying.

How did you grind down the screw heads? Please and thanks.

I used a bench grinder. Kinda like sharpening a drill bit. Turn the screw a litte bit while grinding. Keep rotating the screw and grinding on the rim of the head. It doesn't take much. Depending on the screw, you might not have to do it at all. A belt or disk sander will work or just a plain ol' file.

Thanks for the positive comments folks. I hope you will find it useful.

I did the same with a piece of dowel, just cut the head off the screw, drill a hole in the end of the dowel and glue.
