Default Painters tape

I bet some of you already do this; I keep a roll of 1” painters tape in my tool box. The good thing about blue painters tape is it won’t leave residue and it comes off easy.

Don: I use the green sort. Seems low-tack enough.
Do you ever have a problem with finishes creeping under the edge?

Thanks Don,
I was wondering what I could do with a couple of roll of painter's tape left over from
a paint job I did on the house.

Greetings all,

Okay, I'll admit it, I might be a bit strange on rare occassions.

When I am carving with larger gouges I find that sometimes the lighting will reflect off the shiney surface and bounce into my eyes making it very difficult to see the cutting edge. In looking for a solution I take a bit of 1 inch blue tape and put it on the top of the 'blade' leaving about 3/16 of an inch for cutting. Works pretty good for me - if anyone else, by chance, should have a similar issue feel free to try this out.

For those of you that use a scroll saw blue painters tape is ofter used to reduce burning and it also help prolong the life of the blade
