Default Ornament Hangers

I use 24 gauge wire twisted 6 times around a 10 penny nail for an ornament hanger instead of buying those tiny eyelets. Cut off the two ends, Drill a small 1/16th hole in the top of the ornament. Use plain old Elmer's Wood Glue to glue it in. All I do is stick the twisted end of the finished wire hanger into the glue spout to get enough glue to glue it in in the hole.
I like the Colored wire as it seems to lend to a better looking ornament than the plain wire. Colors that I have found have been Green, Red, Gold, Black, some vasiations of Greens and Reds, Copper and of course Silver.
I run the 10 penny nail through a piece of wood and clamp it down to the work bench.
I have found that 28 gauge a little to thin and 20 gauge a little to thick.

Total cost is under a couple of bucks to make 100s of hangers.

Kenney,
Have done the same thing myself. Used brass wire. Works real nice.

can do that with old electrical extension cord wire. But...I went to our local hobby shop and found the little eyelets both silver and gold color....for very little for a box of 100..so I will use them until gone the other is sure good info tho if you ever run out or short!

For those of you that are fishermen (or have spouses who are), I use a small gold or silver fish hook, just take a pair of needle nose pliers, cut off the curved barb, use the pliers to push the eyelet into the wood and some gold or silver elastic thread (Hobby Lobby) through the eyelet. Quick, easy and available.
