Default Organizing garage/shop

My company had a sale of excess office furniture. desk, chairs, .... I dont need anything but then I saw some file cabinets.(metal, 4 drawer) for $5. Thought why not. Bought 4 and removed some shelves from the back of my garage/shop and put these in and they are amazing. They hold twice as much as my shelves and they hold more weight. I went back and got 5 more and now half the wall of my shop is these metal file cabinets. I actually have empty shelves and empty cabinet drawers. I am a very unorganized person but this forces you to organize and keep it straight because you cant just lay anything around. I actually put the stuff back where it goes.
Did I say how much weight these hold? started loading a drawer up with bottles of nails and ended up completely filling the drawer with nails with no problems at all.

Sure makes carving more enjoyable when I know exactly where everything is. And I have a mouse problem that I dont need to worry about them bedding in everything.

Default Re: Organizing garage/shop

Even though we have a army DRMO surplus auction about 70 miles from here they don't even sell file cabinets for 5 bucks, unless you buy a semi-truckload.

good find and good tip.. hope your shop is on a slab,

all that weight in my raised-yard shed would be 3 drawers shorter in 24 hours if i put them in my shop and loaded one with fasteners,,,
