Default need some suggestions

I dont know if this belongs here , but moderator can move it if not... I am wanting to build a take-apart-display table for craft festivals. I have the material for the tops. I am wanting the leg system to be able to take apart and lay flat from the top. Reason is, I am a fulltime rv'er, and I have to be able to carry in my truck tool box, which is about 54" long. Any suggestions on how to design and build the legs to disasemble from the top, and be attached easily? Thanks for any feed back.

My wife has done some craft shows and I just went to a local lumber yard and got some metal folding legs and in my case got some plywood 6 foot long. You could make the plywood as long as you want. In your case 54 inches I guess. It folds down to your length and width that you need and I suppose the thickness of the whole thing is probably less than 3 inches. It worked very good for us and it is very stable and strong and not very heavy either.

You might try picking up one of those WorkMate folding workbenches and attatching your own top to that. I think they would be stable enough to safely support a 54" table top. they are a bit pricey, but you can find the knock-offs in the big box stores for around 30 bucks.

Go down to Lowes and buy one of those 4' plastic topped folding tables. Also buy some 1-1/2" PVC pipe, enough to cut 4 pieces 18" long. When you set up slip these onto the bottom of each leg which will raise your table up to waist high, perfect for people to see what you're selling. We take our small table along with us to every show we go to and also take along 4 extra 18" pvc extensions in to slip on the legs of the 8' tables that normally are provided. If we're lucky enough to get a end of the roll spot we can then have a "L" shaped set up. Works every time and doesn't cost much.

Go to wallyworld, they have folding white plastic top tables ...all sizes..up to about 8 feet, down to a couple of feet. Cheaper than building something!

I just purchased one of the folding tables. It's a 30 inch by 6 foot table when unfolded. When folded it's 4 inches thick, 30 x 36 inches. Bought it at Target on sale for $31.00.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions! I knew there would be help on here, just have to ask and it comes. I have never worked any craft shows with carvings, but for last 16 yrs have worked crafts and festivals selling pork rinds and roasted and "boiled" peanuts till I sold out. thanks again!

Just another idea, I purchased a folding camp table at wall mart a while back. The top is made of wood or sometimes metal slats. The whole thing bundles up in a bag to about 10" in diamter an about 3' long. They are surprisingly sturdy. When set up they are about 36" or so square.
