Hello I trying to make nautical signs. I've seen nameboards(not up close) with Acanthus leaves incised/scooped out of the board. Does anyone know this technique? I'm trying to pursue a hobby in marine woodcarving! Thanks Andy |

It sounds like relief carving, which would include most carvings cut and shaped into the wood. There should be many discussions on this site on the topic. Go to Relief and Chip Carving, and "Search this Topic" with the word "Signs."
