Default Modified for sharpening and buffing

#1 is a modified floor polisher I cut off the bristles glued on valcro made several wooden disc glued on valcro and leather I use different compounds on the leather. easy to change dics with valcro Buffer is slow with lots of torque buffing pads don,t fly off but easy to change. Pads turn apposite to each other so buffing both sides of a blade are easy.

#2 Is a modified 1'' belt sander made a stand so the sander would lay on it,s back remeved the belt suppors and made a new one to support the belt the full length of the sanding surface. I use high quality belts from Lee Valley thay come in lots of grits down to micro. When in use the belt runs away from you. These modified tools work well for me at a fraction of the cost.
Gordo.

Take your Delta and replace the sanding disk with a 6 inch felt or cloth wheel, and you have a sharpener and a buffer all in one tool also

Hey, pretty ingenious.I see those old buffers all the time at the recycle store dirt cheap. I'll have to make a hone. Red Green would be proud!

GWC Read your post and viewed your pictures on floor buffer modified for sharpening and buffing carving knifes. The strong motor and slow speed would allow one to sharpen without burning blade, I had to have one took about two months to find buffer, got mine completed today. It works great working with the flat wheels lets me keep a more accurate angle on my blades. Thank you very much for sharing the information with us.
