Default Kohlrosing and Wax Inlay

I decided to try a straight kohlrosing design without any relived figures with the wax inlay. It worked out pretty well, but it was a lot more trouble than traditional kohlrosing. Also, this time I remembered to use a sanding sealer before I started carving. As you can see, the result is not much different from doing this on bare wood. The pigment gets into the end grain in the cut and leaches out from there. I suppose you could do the carving, then use the sealer. That would probably work.

But like I said, traditional kohlrosing is easier, much less fussy.

Pretty good looking spoon Bob, youve got good at the wax inlay now pal

If i could just say one thing though, watch the spacing between the lines as they seem to differ.

Thanks, Richard. I probably could get the lines spaced a little more evenly, but I'm still developing my skill with the kolrosing knife. It's hard to see under the edge. Besides, they'll never be perfect, nor would I want them to be. I served my time in Perfectionist Hell. I'm a lot happier now. Or, as John Astin used to say in "Night Court", "I'm much better now."
