Thanks for posting Robert. I have heard of Personna razor blades but I can't find a source of their floor stripper blades in Canada. But as an amateur knife maker I will be keeping an eye out for them. The 36 thou. stock would save a lot of grinding.

Robert, I just read WoodBee's article a couple of days ago and had to give it a try. It worked great and the knife works just as well or better than any knife that I have purchased. I started making one with my teenage son yesterday and he's having a great time. I'll have to get around to taking some pics and post them for everyone to see.

Robert,

That sounds like the way to go as I wasn't completely happy with the sawzall experiment. They sharpen up pretty well and hold an edge fairly, but not as well as I'd like and I believe the carbon content isn't very high in them once you get past the actual cutting teeth, or if it is then the temper is not as good. The two I made won't go to waste, but I'll be trying the floor scraping blades for my next attempts. Wish I could find something just a wee bit thicker though. .036" is
just a little bit too flexible to suit my style.

Robert, I read the article also. The man that Don talks about in the article is Charles Simpson. I spent the weekend of the Townsend show sitting with him and Gary Falin. I bought 3 of Charlie's knives made from these blades and believe me they cut like a dream. He was selling them for $20.00 a piece. Charlie is a super nice guy and I am sure that he would be glad to sell one to anyone who may not have the tools or the skills to make their own. If anyone would like to contact him PM me and I will try to find his business card.
