| | Hair line cracks( I can not find it) Somewhere I ask a question about fine cracks and somebody was kind enough to suggest a certain glue? I can not find the post anymore. I have been family wise occupied and have not worked on my Cedar Bowl, I have been keeping it wet so it would not burst on me ,I finally got the glue and would like to work on it again., but now I have a question, do I use it only when finished sanding or can I put it on now and keep working on it? What about the final finish? I do like to have a natural look.
Please find it for me again:-))))

| | Re: Hair line cracks( I can not find it) Are you using CA glue for the cracks? This is something a lot of wood turners use when a piece breaks off. Go ahead and apply it. It will seep into the crack. I'm not sure if it will cause problems with tools though. It is pretty hard when it sets up. |

| | Re: Hair line cracks( I can not find it) Thanks for your reply and yes it is CA glue, it is just that I spend more time on this piece than any other and I hate to get into trouble at this point, I still have to do more sanding ,so you think I can put it on now???

| | Re: Hair line cracks( I can not find it) I use thin CA glue a lot when turning burrs which have worm holes, bark inclusions and the like. I find it hardens up soft and decayed wood. I've not noticed any problems with later carving, sanding or finishing. If you have a wider crack an application of CA glue immediately followed by sanding with, say, 220 grit paper is a useful gapfilling trick. The sanding dust and the glue form a self-coloured paste which is driven into the crack making an invisible repair.
Good Luck

| | Re: Hair line cracks( I can not find it) Thank you Peter and Doris for finding the link ,I certainly will try the glue , a friend got it for me, my poor Cedar Bowl never gets finish the speed I have at the moment lol
Peter it sounds what I need , I used to do the method of pushing sanding dust into cracks but I never liked it , I probably used the wrong glue.
Thanks to all again
