Default Hair on a Bear

Hi Folks
I have carved a small Black /bear Head for a Walking stick top. What is the best method to put hair on him? I know I can use a V Tool but is there a way to give it more of a ruffled look for wont of a better way to put it.
thanks
Larry

Draw tight "S" that over lap on that bear nothing should be straight. Make sure your S pattern is not symmetrical you must over lap it. Did say you got to over lap it?

id add depth and texture with a gouge and then burn the hair in. you wont really see individual hair on a bear-- but a roughness -- i did this on a cougar bust--

Larry, I like to start animal hair with a deep veiner first. I use longer and deeper random "s" curvy veiner cuts where the fur is longer, then go back with a smaller veiner or v-tool to put more curvy lines in before wood burning more curvy lines. There's been some good examples posted here--and in the WCI magazine. You just don't want the lines to all be the same length, side-by-side--or even the same depth or heaviness.
