Thanks for this wonderful Forum it is always my first stop to look so I would not miss anything :-) Now, forever I try out new glues ( Gorilla ,epoxs),especially for places where one can not "clamp" it has to be instant and possible not leave any marks ,I do not paint ,therefore I can not cover the breaks up. Is there such a thing?? Alice |

Dave, that's a great site! I checked the 'clamping' section, said to use duct tape, I wouldn't have thought of that and it's a great idea for places where clamps don't work! Thin strips of it would work well anywhere and hold things together perfectly! Great information there! Thanks! Deborah

I also use the Blue painters tape a lot...it's got enough tack to hold the pieces together, but doesn't pull off bits of wood when I try to remove it! Bob |

What can I say, Dave...great minds think alike <GRIN> A dab or two of hot glue works well too! Bob |

Don't forget the activator when using cyanoacrylate - works great in making the glue work INSTANTLY as it does not do so when joining wood.....unless it gets on your fingers!

I used the hot glue once to hold the sides on while I cut the other angle on a blank....but problem is, the glue is hard to get off...and didn't want to leave it on as I kept getting my glove in it and then the blank is hanging off my glove....ah..I know, too much information Talking

I was just going through my Lee Valley catalod and spotted some "flat twine" used for clamping. It's pretty much the same stuff I had wrapped around some trim strips when they delivered my new cabinets. It's a thin, stretchy, tough as nails plastic tape with no adhesive at all. It adheres to itself, but nothing else. Supposed to be good for clamping unwieldy, odd shaped pieces while the glue sets. Might be worth a try, if you need to do a lot of this type. 650 foot roll with dispenser is 10 bucks, and refill is $5.75. Al |
