| | Re: Favorite wound closures, Bandaid etc. Super Glue! I use it now for dry cracked finger tips. But there was a incident when some years back . I was instucting a class at the Woodcraft store in Denver . The knife slipped off the carving and sliced my index finger. After applying a few bandaids ,and with not much suscess, the presure on the finger from carving kept opening up the cut thus turning the carving red. After getting the bleeding to stop I applied some super glue and was back to instruting the class within minutes. Rick,I also like the childrens bandaids.

| | Re: Favorite wound closures, Bandaid etc. I prefur the Curad Flexible fabric. as they actualy will stick to me and not leave residue..
Recently all my Curad Flexible fabric bandaids have been obsconded by grandmaw, from my carving supplies going to the grand childrens scratches and knicks, bumps and bruses, a bandaid always makes them better...
the resupply of bandaids were cenderella and bob the builder spots mini's and such,
usually the kids call them stickers, and unless placed where they cant take them off, i catch the cat running around in circles tryng to get them off a foot or her tail.
unless they are stuck hanging half off the soal of my shoe, as somebody in walmarts pointed out the other day...
guess its better than veggitail tomatoes.... or fraggle rock,

Okay..okay.. I'll be honest! A flexible fabric Bandaid with some Bacitracin for good measure...helps the healing go faster and with no itching. |

| | Re: Favorite wound closures, Bandaid etc. Probably shouldn't open my mouth, but it doesn't make much difference what I use for a patch. My luck, or watchfulness, has resulted in very few minor nicks, that just holding them closed for a few minutes hasn't done the job. The first cut I got when I was about 5 from a cub Scout knife my dad got me, still shows a nasty scar on my left index finger and taught me the fine lesson of care with a blade. Oh, ya, there was the one othe incident with a hand axe......lesson learned there too.
Other than those, pretty darn lucky. Small band aids to stop further irritation is all it's taken.

| | Re: Favorite wound closures, Bandaid etc. Paper towel scraps and masking tape....
I'm a bit of a bleeder, and a bandaid just won't do the trick. On the upside, I don't get infections in the cuts.
After that, I really like colorful bandaids (boo-boo-badges).

| | Re: Favorite wound closures, Bandaid etc. Masking tape doesn't work for me...I reach for the duct tape (or gaffer's tape if I'm in the photo studio--DON'T ASK)...
My wife insists that I peroxide it when I come home--to the extent that she has even re-opened a cut to pour the H202 into it! I trained her out of using Rubbing Alcohol!
After that, It's the curaid strips; they stay on the best and I can get a big box at Costco!

| | Re: Favorite wound closures, Bandaid etc. Yep peroxide for me too, the sooner the better! That usually slows or stops the bleeding, a little pressure until it stops, a bit more peroxide to clean it and crazy glue...keep right on carvin' in my opinion naturally! |
