Default Re: Curing a Walking Stick & other stuff

Hello there folks,
I haven't posted in a long time. But I'm glad I checked the site. I do the twistysticks. At this time I've got close to 100 sticks in allstages of work. I live in the piedmont of NC.Sweetgum is all over the place and grows fairly fast. I use sweetgum, maple, dogwood and pretty much what ever has a good twist.Maple is BAD to warp bark on or off.I skin them asap then strap them down to a 2x4.Never had a problem with dwood and haven't sealed any yet.Lightningbolt what part of NC are you in? If you don't mind me asking.Mabe we could get together and go hunting for sticks. By the way Klingspor has a woodworking show in Hickory Oct. 26&27th. hunting to all.
