Smile Carving Tool Carousel

I just finished building this Carving Tool Carousel, and wanted to share it with everyone. This is not my design, I kind of copied it from photos I found on the web. It was pretty easy to build. I used 3/4 inch cabinet grade plywood for the round tool holders, some 3/4 inch dowel rod, a Lazy Susan (6inch) I got at Rockler. com, and some rubber matting I found in the shop for the tool protectors below the holes. Also I put rubber feet on the bottom. I used Forstner bits for the tool holes, so I would not chip out too bad. You can make any size needed for all kinds of different tools you may have, and as many tiers you may want to add. At the top of the center dowel, I pinned it with a 1/4 inch dowel, so it will not fall apart. This way it can be taken apart and packed up in case I want to take it with me somswhere. Now I have to get to work and sharpen them!

Nice job Rich. I made one similar and did not make it big enough. Only 2 tiers and only 11" dia. I will make another one a little larger.
Thanks for sharing.
Doug

Looks great. This may be easy enough that I could put one together. Thanks for posting the pixs.

Wow - that's great.
And I just spent $90+ on a new tool carrier/storage. It's very nice but I sure like the looks of yours more.
I would turn the center rod/dowel into some sort of handle. Add a "T"?

Looks really good, Rich. I bought one a couple years ago and love it!! Mine does have a knob on top, that works like a handle and the whole works fits down inside a plastic bucket.

It really is a great invention and you did a great job on your version! Deborah

Nice looking tool rack Rich. I made a tool rack a while ago and have been looking for a better one. I think I found it with yours.
Thanks for posting.
