I may not be able to carve like Ian Norbury, but I can drill me some holes. The larger rack is actually a combined version of several smaller racks. I got tired of hunting for and knocking over the smaller racks, and I needed a new one for the dental tools and driver bits so I got out the glue. Alas, I no sooner finished the combo rack, when a pesky new small materialized for my home made midi gouges. I weighted it to make pulling a tool without yanking the rack easier. (Check out the dead fly.) |

Hey David! If you figure out how to get the tools to return to their proper holes (Hell, any holes), please let me know. All mine (except the sharp ones) end up on the bench....But the racks are nice lookin.... Tom H |

Thanks Tom. Considering what they cost, you would think the Swiss tools would not only re-rack themselvess, but sharpen themselves too, or at least strop now and then, but no, they just lay around with the micros and home-mades. A fellow carver at the last carving roundup gave me the idea of mounting the home made tools on the interstices with rare earth magnets, which works great for transport, but they get in the way of me seeing the tips of the other tools, so I made the auxillary rack to keep 'em from clanking together on the bench. |

See that's the problem. Ya buy expensive tools and then ya gotta treat 'em nice. Buy the cheap used ones, sharpen 'em and throw 'em in da drawer. If they chip--just buy more cheap used ones! Best part--ya keep buying more toys! LOL Bob L P.S. Nice rack....err....tool rack, that is! |
