Default can any one get my started

can any one help me get started carving spirit's in Pencil's....mind don't look right.....????

Welcome to the site, their is a book out by Randy True that shows step by step on how to carve a Santa, Woodspirit and Uncle Sam in a pencil.Hope this helps.

I've have recently been searching the web for the same thing. There are a few ideas out there - not many but a few. I'll return here if I find anything worthwhile sharing.

I'll give one tip right now. Don't practice on the actual pencils. Cut or obtain 3/8" and 1/4" square lengths of Basswood to practice on. If you are a newer carver, start out carving the face on the corner of the wood, then move to doing it of flat face of the wood. As you get better and better you'll have some nice earrings before you start carving the pencils.
