I actually came on looking for a tip Re: sealing and exterior inside wooden hatch That is unfinished wood and framed edge's have real milk paint. We design and make country farm house furniture. In my experience using Real Milk Paint.com products I finish with coat of dark or light brown wax on top of paint applied with a sheet and then use the finest steel wool to buff it out. We had done a bathroom vanity with a hand painted sink of all crazy colors and i did the wood work in yellow ochra with the dark brown wax. It came out the nuts... My concern was sealing it so there would be no water stains. I calle dwayne siever at the real milk paint co. and he suggested benjamin moore water based sealer on top of the buffed briwax. This vanity came out beautiful. So....now i want to use a water based sealer for this basement wooden hatch we made for a client and seems benjamin moore does not have any exterior water based only interior... please help with any suggestions. Love learning new way's to complete progects while sharing ours... Elizabeth ( The Drie Pickett Collection of Country Farm House Furniture!) Our furniture, Milk Paint and Bri wax is available at the Down Home Store in Cutchogue, Long Island New York. Come visit us soon! |

Nice post and an interesting approach. I've been using Bri-Wax for years and never thought to put another finish over it. And I've only used it on the carvings I don't paint. I hope you can post some photos to show us your technique. Mike
