You have cut a 6 Dia circle . say 1 inch thick .
Now your trying to make it 1/2 inch thich by cutting the two sides ?
Ash | Not quite; it is a 6" cylinder the ends of which I needed to cut off since the ends had some decorative carvings. Should have cut the ends before completely finishing the cylinder before doing the carvings....thanks,

The safest way , of course a V clamp for 6" can be a bit costly. Another way , flat clamp the sides in a drill vise , mount the vise on a right angle , Cut down to the vise cross cut to the cut and remove the first cut , rotate , reclamp make another cut.
Then we can get fancy . From there. Personally , I would bench vise clamp , get my hand saw .......
The speed the blade is moving you need a solid clamping point, with out being clamped it is an accident waiting to happen.
Dad always told me accidents are caused .. they don't just happen.
Ash | Great advice !! Finally hot glued the cylinder into the blank, then cut the ends,,,,,
THANKS !

Ash | Actually is a 6" dia cylinder that I wanted to cut 1/2" inch off both ends that had some decorative carvings on them. Should have cut the ends first while still attached to the original block the done the carvings. Many thanks, CDC | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
