Default Answer To Ash's Question (Part 2)

The other way I used to lay out my patterns was very time consuming. I would transfer the pattern with transfer paper like a normal person then using my small gouge I would cut the same grooved lines as the pattern. Then using a pen called a Spot & Line pen I would mark the required depths and any other instructions. You should be able to see in the pictures posted. I am not sure how I am going to do it now that I can't see enough to do these methods anymore. I am open for ideas in this area. Keep in mind that I want to be able to do as much as I can by myself. I think that is one of the hardest things I have to overcome asking for help has never been easy. There is also a picture of the spot & line pens. This is a liquid plastic I also use for marking my knives and such it takes about 24 hours to dry. By the way I normally do wear finger guards. I didn't in this picture to show that I use my middle finger to follow the groove ahead of the knife. This finger I wrap with cut resistant tape but not so much that I can't feel the groove.

Thumbs up Re: Answer To Ash's Question (Part 2)

Ron,
I am not sure you realize how amazing this is to the rest of us regular seeing folk, but you truly are an inspiration to us all.
It is my hope you will continue sharing with us who truly do not see!!!

Ron:
Don't think of it as getting help in carving; think of it as getting a translator to translate a visual image to a tactile image for you, just as you'd get a translator to convert written text to braille for you.

Ron ,
A real pleasure speaking with you. I spoke with my brother and he is all for trying as well,

And he agrees , it should work so we will have two heads working on getting it right.
