Thomas, I just went through that drywall dust business and final cleanup is best done (at least for me) with a damp dust cloth. Vacuum up as much as possible then go over everything with a damp, almost dry. cloth. If you use a shop vac, you can get special filter bags made just for drywall dust. Otherwise you are apt to burn out your motor, as that dust gets into everthing, right through the regular filter. If memory serves me right, those bags were about 12 bucks for 2. I've got one now in my new shop vac.......told ya that stuff would eat the motor.

Al,
i think that it might be a combination between the shop vac letting the fines through the filter, what we get on us and the dust thats working up through the old un maintenced 100 yr old oak floor 1/64" gaps between floorboards,

i wanted to bring in the garden hose after the 4th vaccuming and just shop vac behind the hose/ but were trying to get paint to dry on the walls,

another idea was wax the floor and then strip it...

but i think you got it!!
damp mop maybe the dust will re-adhere in the gaps of floor boards and help seal the floor

Oh Thomp! I feel for you. It all starts innocently enough. New drywall. From there it escalates. Been there done that...Well the drywalls off why not better insulation. Honey, those old window are drafty and don't look so good anymore. How about additional wall outlets. Got to paint. Opps, forgot new window and door trim/molding. Oh honey that really looks good! Floor has to be either refinished or carpeted. Such a nice new space, the windows just have to have new curtains.....Oh and honey, we can't put that old furniture in that new space. Maybe you'll be able to set up your carving bench right in the middle....LOL Glad to see ya back on line..Tom H

tom,
we lived (rented) this house for 23 years before it came up for sale,
the 15 year loan was double the rent price monthly cash outflow. we have been 5 years paying the loan, now, the loan company sold out to a out of state bank and we have to regnocate terms.. we have 4 folks working on it but think were going to settle with the credit union becuse its a fixed rate with no 5 year adjustable baloon payment, never the less upgrades are considered equity, and houses in this area are appraising double what this thing sold for 5 years ago...
dang theifs if you ask me.. the whole bunch has a hand out...
---

we have just about finished the (her) bedroom, ya got to make momma happy.

Cuz if moma aint happy NOBODY'S GONNA BE HAPPY!

the television cable outlet box was added and 3 plugs 110vt . but i cought it for not bringing a telephone line into the wall box...

6" basebords and trim was sanded & reused in the bedroom the window and doors + trim was reused but took out and stripped & paint, new laminet flooring ordered $300.00+ old doors are gonna be rehung & painted, hate that becuse there now nice ventage old looking varnished raw wood, the varnish has a purple tenge in it never the less she has no apprication for whats working and intends to change it all,

i mentioned a motel near here had rooms they were talking about converting into mini - old folk condos maybe we should get her one.../ well i waz in the dog house already....ha

luckly the house got vinal siding and new cheap aluminum single hung windows just before we bought it Thank God!,
but she has been making noises about kitchen rearangement , bay windows, an island and every thing she sees in the hgtv channel she wants
?

hummm
im looking for a hiding place, thinking of seriously sneaking off in the sunset. but with my leg vein blockage in legs.. but she wont drive me.!

What,no 'puter in the dog house. Glad it wasn't health problems. But then, maybe you wouldn't had to work so hard. Gots to watch those little brides.
I have redone the master bathroom 3 times in 10 years. After the first two, "well, I don't like it", The third time came around and it is what she wanted or it has to be as I will not redo. Not a simple repaint, tearout shower, stool, lavatory, the whole nine yards. but my daughter and son in law got some nice fixtures chesp. Got the kitchen to finish up, new flooring and probably will be what she wants. But no club this time hehehehe. Dangm could have had a really nice seperate shop for those three remodels.
Hang in there Thomp, It's just the biginning.

well this house was always a rent house as far as i see,
the plumbing looks to be put in as right as possible. for an after thought 40 years after the house was built but never upgraded just scraped together fixes, nothing of expense was spent over re roofing , little sheet rock hole repair, just enough spent to keep it rented.

and there is plenty to keep momma busy thinking about upgrades but its a bit tight around the purse strings..

ill tell all you fellers never do 2 rooms at once and try to live in the house at the same time. were not even replacing any fixtures in the bath.

just the trim will be modernized to solid pvc, and getting rid of all that old wood that has nowhere around a wet area, we put blue board Sheetrock in the bathroom i wanted the cement backer board so i could tile the whole room, but the budget wouldn't cover it. so we bought the sheets of fiberglass sheeting and made the surround to the ceiling, Its still got a wooden floor i would prefer a cement slab but cant figure how to pour it on the floor Joice's.... so that will get a good vinyl covering ...
yep there's plenty to do and momma keeps them wheels of want spinning for sure...

Try making the little lady go without a bathroom for five days and see how that treats ya. Didn't go over too good with mine. I told her there was a pail in the garage but......had to run quick after that one!

the toilet was off the flange 12 hrs. we only live 2 doors down from my daughter so there was no real panic,
except for showers finely tonight i got my last weeks Friday shower, got the shower curtains installed couldn't find the shower head so it was like more of a beating but now that its over i liked it better than the shower head mas-sager and may toss it out,

that shower reminded me of our last AF deployment to turkey couple years before desert storm where we got cold showers out of the water buffalo....at 45-50 psi, it was wet, soap up then rinse and runaway... to get warm again..

we been getting baths man its been years since i set down in a tub, like to have had to get a tow truck to get me out she over dosed me, by dumping too much of relaxing bath salts and it did the job thought i was sleeping there that first night,
i told her she did it on purpose trying to drown me and collect the insurance to hire a professional contractor..to finish

your right dont keep a woman away from the bath a week fer sure
