Wade, I had never heard of Cynthianna until Diana and I married and I visited the Ozarks. That is a wonderful wine and combined with Vignoles gives me a nice Arkansas red and white to share with friends.

I know that Cynthianna goes under a different name up in MO. Is that Norton? Availability of these two varietals was a real pleasure as I retired to the ranch. I had asked about them in various places as my career moved us around; but, no one had heard of them.

The distributers of alcoholic beverages here in AR have things locked up. Especially shipping rules. They will not allow AR vintners to ship as they do not want reciprocal agreements that would allow shipments into the State from other areas.

Good luck with your grapes and wine making. May you say of each bottling "that was a good year".

Paul,
Distributors here have done the same thing, been holding on a long time to it. Only 11 states have it that way.
Yes, Cynthianna and Norton are the same grape.
I got all my endposts in yesterday for trellising, 10 rows all together, the longest about 325 ft, the shortest 270 ft, rows 9 ft apart, plants 8 to 9 ft apart in the rows. Starting on wire today! Wish you were here to help!
Wade

p.s. Keeping the thread on track, we had maybe a week total with snow on the ground here in TN. Last year it was maybe 2 days, so this has been a rough one! Sorry, all you snowbound Folks, I couldn't resist! (It hit 71 here yesterday)

MA, burning and carving is not the same as playing with matches and knives.

We tied the record for 2nd longest number of days with snow on the ground in Denver this year. It has finally melted in Denver, but I live in Florissant (8750 FT above sea level) and we still have plenty of snow left. HOWEVER, nothing like Oswego. Jim sure is glad he does not live up there anymore, and I guess I won't gripe about our snow fall this year either after seeing those pictures--yikes.

Well, we had a first for February around here (at least for the 37 years we've been here).....lightning and thunder and a mild blizzard, all at the same time. Kinda spooky!
