| | You never know what will happen! I had a funny thing happen this morning on my walk. We were approaching a busy intersection when all of a sudden Lou stopped. He does this when something is blocking our way such as construction barriers or anything blocking the path. He usually looks for a second the will take me around the safest way possible. All of a sudden someone grabs my arm. Which he is lucky I didn't just deck him but I am lucky I didn't because it was a cop. He said he was a trooper. He said if I could wait a second he would help me around the obstacle but I said that was Lou's job but he insisted I wait. Then I found out what was blocking my path a pickup. I was on the passenger side and the front of it was against the crosswalk button. They then started banging on the window and waking the driver up. They wanted me to wait because it was still running and he might have woke up and panicked and run over me. They got him out and he was loaded to the gills you could hear the beer cans hitting the sidewalk and he even still had one in his hand. The trooper then said we would go around and he would stop traffic for me since the button was broken or imbedded in the front grill of his truck. When we were going around he all of a sudden came to life and wanted to come get his dog he said I had. He said bring me back my dog but we just kept going. When we got to the other side of the street I could still hear him calling come here yellar com'on boy. And all this time I thought Lou was a black dog. But just goes to show you never know what you will incounter.

It seems to be a growing problem in our area with people who continue to Drink and drive.there's hardly a week goes by without accidents and fatalities due drinking and driving>

| | Re: You never know what will happen! You see Ron there is an occasion when the cop was there when you needed him. Glad it all worked out ok for you and another DWI in jail where he belongs. You sure have some stange encounters with these low lifes. I remember it wasent that long ago that one threw a coffee in your face from a vehicle and yelled obsenities at you. Dont worry buddy this retired Mountie will look after you this weekend and make sure that nothing happens to you. Got to check out Lou though you have been telling me he is a black lab maybe you switched somewhere LOL
Glad you safe and sound though

| | Re: You never know what will happen! My wife and I were sitting around discussing DUI's and high speed car chases and the threat that they pose to the general public and we came up with what we consider a pretty good brain fart!
Most people who drink and drive and when finally get caught seem to just keep repeating the same beahvior. It's not unusual in this day and age, even with the stiff penalties to see folks do it over and over again until someone gets themselves killed, either the drinker or an innocent bystander like Ron.
I wonder if we'd see a dramatic drop in DUI's if everytime they were pulled over they'd get charged with "attempted murder," because in effect, that's what they are doing out there to the general public when they get behind the wheel of a vehicle when stoned.
The same with these clowns who force the police to initiate a high speed chase. In additional to all the other charges that go along with a high speed chase, charge them with attempted murder. I'm betting that it would make at least some of those who do it think twice, and those who don't, well, a conviction would end their high speed chase days for a good long time!
