Why not say who the company is as it will save others that might fall prey to them. To me, It is a company I would not do business with at all. Sounds like this is a normal practice of that company.

I have a problem with one right now myself. Seems someone is selling under their name but will not fix what is broken and the main company will no fix the problem since they did not sell it. Catch 22 but definietely will not be doing business with them again an will name the company if I don't hear back from them this week.

I am not sure Stubai has a responsibility in this? This company admits to having short sets in the past, the loss is at their end...they might consider employee theft if its not customer theft...and a person that buys an existing set like I said before, what need would they have of duplicate chisels?

Stubai may not have responsibility (though who can say for certain?) but they have a dog in this fight. They would have an opportunity to get some excellent word of mouth (and keyboard on the net) advertising by providing the missing pieces. Or they may get a black eye, deserved or not, by not doing anything to resolve it. They don't want people to think of an unhappy carver with an incomplete set when their name is mentioned. I would be very explict and give them details, maybe even a copy of the sales receipt, and ibe sure to say exactly what two chisels are missing and what your shipping address is. I would not demand anything nor make promises or threats, just provide the information to make it really easy to decide to resolve it by providing the missing pieces.

<EDIT>

Since they pointed out they checked you on the surveilance tape I would be more prone to say it is Stubai's responsibility and I would also be a little irritated that the store didn't say that. It seems that their position is that you are trying to do something dishonest. If the tape shows that no one messed with it after you picked it up, then the assumption should be that there were only 6 in it at that time.

Keep at them, if nothing else you will have the satisfaction of letting them know where you stand.
