My apologies to everyone.
I have sent Paul a PM apologizing for the Joking. I will try not to joke here again.

The Joke about Arkansasers voting clintion in to office of the president was from Arkansasers.

Again, My apologies to Paul and to everyone else.

I agree with you ho, all my life I've tried to find humor in most everything I do . every day my wife and myself kid each other and always have a big laugh even after almost 47 yr of marriage. when I was in highschool I had one teacher who would not start his class unless I told my daily joke. when I was a superintendent of several construction co. when I delt with my men I always tried to bring humor into what I was dealing with. In this old world there are a lot of grumps,
I 've seen them and know how they act . I refuse to be one. I will always try to bring a smile to your face . thats the way I am and At my age I refuse to change. If I rub you the wrong way I'm sorry . but thats me. Just old Jim

My friends, I was in no way making an attempt to stifle humor. It is part and parcel of my life. Just visit my web site and take a look at the epistles I write. But unfortunately, in today’s divisive and combative atmosphere too many things have become “fighting words” and I have learned this the hard way. Almost all “labels” have become the equivalent of racial epithets.

My first posting was an attempt to point this out. I saw possibility of more harm than good to the friendly atmosphere we have somehow managed to maintain on this forum. Definitely unlike the fights that break out on some of the other lists.

I think Rick has summed up the situation in a very few words.

There is plenty of room for humor without hurt. We come together because of woodcarving, not because we have the same political or religious beliefs. I think that great good can come of the fact that we have different backgrounds, and even though long distance, use the one label that never hurts, friends, for one another.

I am gonna give it one more shot.

Here is a story, I used to belong to Wood Magazine's message board, but when they refused to hold the membership to the rules, I left.

It closed last year I believe.

Here is another; I used to take vacation from work to attend woodcarving club meetings that required a two hour drive in rush-hour traffic. I would always bring a box-full of donations for their raffle; which included hand-made knives.

The last meeting I attended, during the first fifteen minutes, the President and the Treasurer had a standup yelling match.

I left, I have not returned; that was nearly a year ago.

So at the risk of sounding condesending, I ask that we drop this thread.

Thank you, Rick
