| | What is wrong Woke up early this morning, Earlier than I normally do, and watch the sun rise. Nice morning, a little breeze, low 60s. Beautiful sun rise.
The sun rose but still nice temp outside, I got up and went in to my carving space and sat there, looking, wondering why I can't get in the mood to carve. Not that I don't have carvings to carve or ones needing to be completed. I just Sat there.
The little bride came up and asked,' What'ca doing"? Sitting, I answered. She said," why"? You know, I had a blank mind and could not for the life of me, answer her simple question.
This has been going on for a month now. well, since we came back from Texas, planning a wedding we did not know we would be planning, a quick trip to the in'laws and take them both to the doctor as the Brother in law and his wife was gone on a mortorcycle vacation. A house full of relative who came for the wedding. Hell, the wedding was only 30 minutes long. but stayed for a week. ho-hum. Motherin law got sick again so a trip taking her home and back in one day. A 460 mile round trip. Working on the stuff I bidded on fopr a convenient store.
But can't get motivated to carve.
Theres the fireman needing to be painted and assessoriers put with it and mounted. The shop called and wanted some more bark carvings and a cane. others to complete and some to start.

| | Re: What is wrong You just answered your own question Kenny. What's wrong? Too much on your mind!
Time for a break .... let the dust settle, get the wedding and in-laws out of your mind and the urge will return. Last few years, it happens more often than I care to admit to, too many things cloud my mind, I get overwhelmed and can't focus. Take the time to clear your mind, relax and let the stress glide away....go to the beach, go fishing, go canoeing, go for walks in the woods by yourself. Anything .... to get rid of the baggage! It will return when it's ready and you are ready.
Good luck,
Bob |

| | Re: What is wrong Too much on your plate lately it sounds like. You could jump in your truck and come see a fat old blind guy he might get you back wanting to carve. No I think Bob is right you need a break from all that surrounds you. Now you have the fourth of july to deal with maybe you would feel better if you blow something up. Hope you get to feeling better. Ron |

It's hot , it's summer , it's the wedding , the inlaws, the need to to get something for someone...the mother in law trip ... ect ect..
You need to, either get seriously drunk or go fishing.

| | Re: What is wrong The Texas trip is a month behind us, the wedding is over, the inlaws have left, but still no carving.
Oh ash, I didn't get drunk but this old salt did get a little happy at the reception party. The next day, the little bride said, I remember when you use to dance like you did last night.
What did she mean "use to"? I still can cut a rug. The only difference is the style of danceing from the middle 60s to the 2006 style. Few of those young things sure did embarrass me on the floor. I think some of those moves aren't legal in a public place.
Now the little bride still has the moves also. Guess a few beers loosens the old bones up.
No Ash, No hangover and I drove home at 4:30 that Saturday morning. We had to clean the place up as it was Night club my friend let us use if we would clean it up. Can not thank him enough. His wedding gift to the kids.
Now I have to decide if I want the job of cleaning it up every Saturday night as the owner said it was cleaner now than ever before. I think not! |

Straighten up and quit moping around.
There are poor children all over the world carving mud with sharpened twigs, and happy to have it. And you, with all of your wonderful tools and talent going to waste; tsk tsk, you should be ashamed of yourself.
There Kenny; did that help?
How about this; I am almost finished a Sea Captain I am starting to like but have put on hold, cause it was time to fix the rot in my deck railing [5 years overdue]. Then I got a load of free firewood, but really have to clean up woodpile first [done sort of]. Then we have to pack and be on alert in case we are evacuated because of forest fires. And somewhere along the line it became clear that it is time to re do the back bathroom, including new flooring and plumbing; now, no more excuses. Do I need to continue?
The Captain is far enough along to keep looking at me, and make me feel really guilty.
My wife can hear the tool drawer upon from the other side of the house, and.............
Gotta go, I am not supposed to be doing this either.
