Default Woodworking chat line

Can anyone direct me to a wood working chat line? I'm trying to buy a new router for my shop and need some advice on best make, model vs. price & service. i.e. are you happy with yours?

wood magazine had one, woodworking mag had one...justwoodworking did but think they are down now......take a look at www.tookking.com for prices...I have bought a number of tools from them, no problems and best prices around imo...as for live chat again, I am a member of handymanclub of america and they have a live chat......

I have a DeWalt DW618 B3 2 1/4 HP Three base router kit. It's met my needs so far.

Here is a link to Some Dewalt routers, the kit I have is about mid way down the list.

The Porter Cable has been the workhorse of the industry for decades,,have had mine ,,gee,, don't remember how many yrs,,still going strong,,I've burned up several other makes,,but this one keeps on going ,,can't beat it with a stick,,well I guess you could,, but it wouldn't care one bit. I've dropped it I dont' know how many times,,ground through miles of mouldings,,I just plain love it,,don't think I'll have to, but if I did have to replace it,, I'd buy another in a heartbeat! nice tool

Just bought a new Porter Cable 694 set last weekend. This set has the regular base plus the plunge base, and large plastic carrying case to carry/store them in. Was on sale at the Porter Cable factory. I just used it in the last couple of days with a Freud router bit, recommended by Lynn, to edge a couple of bases of walnut. Worked like a charm and the sound of the router motor didn't vary as I worked (no slowing because of the hard wood) so I'm happy.

Y'all are great to pass on so much good advice. Will look hard at Porter Cable. Sawdust (Chris) at MLCS, wrote me they use Porter Cable in their shop.
I had a Sears 2 1/4 HP 1/2" shank variable speed that was doing fine...up until yesterday. Don't know why, but half way through routing a 1/2" wide grove to recieve a drawer bottom it just up and stopped. Have used it very little since I bought it in '04.
Told the wife I was going to need a new router. She wanted to know if they were expensive. I said no, not if you compare it to the car I bought you last year. No response; will probably pay for that remark sometime in the very near future.
