Default woa to me...wooooa to me!

Just got back from a lovely family outing. Did pizza, Safeway and had a nice ride home. Was out seeing my husband off...he needed his motorcycle fix...and I heard a hissing sound...any of you who live in a rural setting know this could mean nothing...or it could mean something dreadful. Well I looked about, thinking-did I leave a sprinkler on? Did my hose burst at the fitting? Or did my well pump sprink a crap soldered seam in my workshop?! Well, sadly thats the one that happened. Everything is ruined. The man and his dad are out looking into it now and dad has his tanks down here, good lord. All my tools were in puddles of water. My Dremels, My Knives, my computer, my laser...sigh...all my finished waiting to be sealed pieces.
It's dark and I am bummed. I threw everything over my shoulder in a mad rush, I will go out with the daylight to check. I did quick shut the power of to the entire place. Good Gawd-woa to me.......so sad...so feeling sorry for my self/......

That is definately, "Having a Bad Day!". Sorry to hear that, a person's shop is their haven and to have their haven flood out, it's too terrible to consider.

Dry off all the tools immediatley and oil them up well. Rust will begin all too quickly, unfortunately. The Dremel will be more difficult, but you should be able to take it apart, dry it out, lubricate it up and hope for the best. Or, send it in to a repair shop or back to the manufacturer for repair. Computer ...... well, they don't do well under water! Shop repair, at the best, new one, at the worst!

The good news is .......... tomorrow is another day, and steel doesn't melt, so your knives and gouges should be ok if you take care of them now. Good luck.

Bob

WOW, Keoma, I'm so sorry to hear of your misfortune, I sure hope you can get everything back in order. I am concerned about your computer though, I would suggest you get in touch with your insurance company, perhaps they will cover anything that can't be saved. Good luck.

Keoma, wow that is a disaster! That WD-40 stuff sprayed liberally on tour tools will help, then wipe down and oil them like Bob said!

Aaacckk! How dreadful!!!! Keoma, all is not lost. Not yet, anyhow. When you can get to your tools, blow dry the electrical stuff like the Dremels. Use your hair blow dryer on the hot setting and dry them thoroughly. Open them up and blow dry the insides. Once completely dry, put them back together again and plug them in. Sometimes this is all that is needed. My brother has done this many times with electrical things that got wet, including a stove that was in a salt water flood when the Gulf of Mexico came to visit us back in 93. your knives will clean up good as new, I am pretty sure.

Unfortantely, this will probably not work with the computer....
I hope the wood pieces that you hadn't sealed yet, are salvaged too. Things always look worse in the dark. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Wish I was there to help with the cleanup.

Sorry to hear! At least it's only stuff Internal human piping can sometime spring a leak too, now that's worse. Be sure to try everything that's been said, then be sure to post a list of stuff that is beyond fixing/salvaging. This is a list of friends you know, and help just might be out here.
