| | Re: Why I didn't carve today Hey looks good there Cliff. I am no stranger to those carp. I put one back about 6 years ago that was 40 some inches long and forget what the girth was. We took the measurements to the DNR at the time and it was close to a state record at the time. I have a photo somewhere around here. Talk about a stinking mess. If it hadn't been in the early spring and the water was cold I would never have gotten him to the shore.. he would have taken the reel to then end and then been gone. It was fun!
Nice job bud! Now get back to carving!

| | Re: Why I didn't carve today Hey Mark, man, them's some big 'uns for sure. I.ve seen pix of them but ain't nothin that big around here. Bigest catfish I've caught was only 13 lbs and that was like hookin up to somebody's rear bumper. Hey Colin, come on down, carve me up a tree and catch some fish as well, deal or no deal.

| | Re: Why I didn't carve today Funny it's almost a secret society "those of us who fish for Carp".
I have never understood why some folks would spend big money to go to Florida and fish for Tarpon and Bonefish for sport, but won't go a few miles down to the nearest mudhole and fish for Carp for sport?
Carpin & Carving sounds like a perfect day!
Nice Going Cliff. |

| | Re: Why I didn't carve today Congrats on the catch Cliff.
I heard of a great Scandinavian recipe for carp... something about hanging it in the sun for a week tacked to a shingle. Then you throw away the fish and eat the shingle!
Great way to combine the hobbies. |
