Default Whoohooo!

My mom just called to tell me that a town to the south of us, New London, MN is putting on its 2 nd annual "Studio Hop"... and guess who's on that list???

Fred Cogelow! I'm going to go to his studio in Willmar, MN ! I'm soooo excited!

And theres another fella who forges (sp)knives on that Studio Hop list.. we plan on going there too! And another who does furniture.

Heres the URL to the information of the Studio Hop if your in the area. Its on June 24 -25.

http://www.studiohop.org/artists.htm

I'm not sure I'm going to get any sleep for two weeks now.. I'm soo excited!!

I have heard of Sock Hops but not StudioHops. Gues that would be hopping from studio to studio eh? Rabbit style!
Guess I have dated my self on the Sock Hops!!! Fun times and pretty girls. AH, Bill Haley and the Comets, "Rock arond the Clock". Fast damcing and running wild.
The Platters and slow dancing. This is good!

I got to go see two of the studio's on Sunday! This is the first time I've met another carver in person. AND got to see what a real carvers work area looks like. Awsome.. totally awsome. Just looking at the bench with all the carving tools on it made me drool, and the different carvings in different stages all around put me into dreamland. LOL There was a line of folks coming in behind me or I would have stopped to visit with Fred longer. Really nice fella!

We also stopped at a place deep in the woods and this guy makes willow furniture. *sigh* Beautiful. His whole place was rustic arbors, chairs, benches, little cubby hole type rooms outside done in found wood bound together to make the rooms. He gave me a piece of cedar and now I know just how beautiful that wood smells like. I am going to see if I can carve a woodspirit into it and then return it back to him. He was really interested to know if that wood would be easy to carve spirits into.

It was a beautiful day.. I just wish the visits could have been longer.
