Hi Cliff, say that is a good looking fish. I'm not a fisherwoman so could you please tell me what kind of fish?
Did you release or keep it?
Kathy

Hi Cliff, Nice Carp. Do you plan on eating it? Did it take you very long to land it? I'll bet you thought you had a Log hooked. Lots of fun. Merle

For a minute there I open the thread and thought you were going to say, "This is my last carving".

Great pic.

Hey! If that's what you get with a single kernel you should try the whole cob! ;-)

Nice catch. From what I hear they aren't that great to eat with all of the bones. Not to mention they eat Bass eggs.

Thanks to all that have taken a moment to look at my pic. To start with, yes, it is a carp and no we don't eat them. We do how ever treat them with a gentle hand. To begin, we remove the barb from the hook so as not to injure the mouth. I mention using one kernel of corn, reason being we use a number 4 hook which is very small and all you can get on that hook is one kernel of corn. As soon as a large one such as in the pic is photographed back to the water they go, who knows, next year he may be back and weigh 30 pounds.

Nice fish Cliff.... Glad to hear that you practice catch and release! What size line did you use and did he give you any fight or just go dead?

Hey Eddie, usually a carp that size makes his initial run and then he's tierd, this son of a gun wouldn't give up, he was up and down the dang river like you wouldn't believe, and with 14 lb FIRELINE i didn't wanna lose him so I kept my drag fairly loose and I had a real good time for a good 15 minutes. Usually an 8 or 10 pound carp will give you a better fight but they also tire quite fast.
