Talking Water in Basement?

After the 18 inches of snow we got 2 weeks ago started melting very fast we got some water down in our basement. My wife noticed there was water on the floor in most areas, except my shop. She was wondering why my shop didn't get wet. I said "Just lucky I guess".

Hello Gergie,
This sounds similar to my luck of about 3 weeks ago. The drain line away from our house froze up (and I didn't know it). We then had a good rain to come and we ended up with about 6 inches of water in our basement. It sure has halted my woodcarving for a while. Plus the insurance company said tough break that I wasn't covered. I would have been if it was a broken water line in the house but not for outside water coming in.....Myron

That's to bad about your water damage. I was lucky mine was minor and in only spots in the basement. (Although I did a little planning when I picked the spot for my shop. , .)

Anyway this winter our hose for the sump pump froze up at work and put 4 inches of water in the basement and the insurance paid to have the sheetrock replaced. Sorry to here that.

That sounds like a good St. Patricks Day toast.
