Tony, My problem is I am not use to these techniques and trying them out. the next on will be sealing then apply a wash.

Another technique I have read about is loading up the drush with water first, then diping the tip on a paper towel, then dipping it in the edge of the paint and working it back and forth.
I do like that techniqe but still do not get the wash like I have seen. Hmm, Maybe send my cared pieces to you who do do the washes. HEHEHEHEHEHE

Nah, This old dag has learn some new tricks and will keep trying. Thanks for your input.

Oh the opld mind has to digest all of this info. AGHHHHHHHHHHH, Gives me a headache.
Of course the little bride says I AM A HEADACHE!!

Yep I resemble that for sure.

AGAIN, Thanks to all of you.

Kenny I fully understand the decay of gray matter (which I already have little of).

If you should ever get the change to either hook up with Phil or Gary, its worth the time just for the finishing technique.

kenny,

since you dont like the blo, try using minwax #209 natural stain. pete leclair uses this as a pretreatment before painting but i have seen it used after the peice was painted and dried. he uses it just like blo with a little raw sienna mixed in. just another thought. this way is a alot safer not as smelly either.

Not that I dislike blo, I am not a fan of it. But then, I am not a fan of many things, Both political and non polictical!

One thing is for sure, I am not a fan of 95 degree + temps. Ah to have 50-70 degree temps the year around.

I always wanted to try the oil paints wash over wet blo, it seams that it would produce some ov the most vivid colors possible but since i already have a broad selection of craft paints 120 tubes and a set of tube 12 watercolors, i dont think i need to buy a bout $50.00 worth of oils...
but blo takes so long to dry here about 3 days to a week, i feel there could be some color merging or even running.
maybe some study on this is merrited... i could afford the primary colors i guess.

thomp,

you can use the acrylics over the blo the same way it just antiques as the paint dries as opposed to dipping the peice afterwards to acheive the same effect. if you did not want to use the blo the natural 209 minwax works good also.
