Default Visiting Chicago- any carving interest

I am off for a short vacation in Chicago and wonder if there is anything out there that would interest a wood carver? Doesnt need to be in the city. I am actually going to be around cook county and am willing to drive for hours. lol

So if there is anything out there i shouldnt miss as a would be carver, please tell me. Much appreciated

Hey Mischief, the only carvers in Chicago that I have heard about, those that hang out in dark streets with hooded sweat shirts and they carry pretty sharp carving knives so be careful where you wonder off sight seeing as these "carvers" can spot a tourist a mile away. All in pun and I didn't mean to insult real woodcarvers.

I do actually have a wonderful idea for you. The Field Museum. I love to look at the totem pole collection. The Native American and African collections have a lot of really interesting carved items too.

Lol..I will heed both advice and avoid the "carvers" but go see the poles.
Thanks.
