Default Visited Wood-whittler in Savannah

Just got back from a nice visit with Bart (Wood-whittler) and his family in Savannah! It's nice to meet up with carvers when you travel. Although we didn't get a chance to sit and carve, we did have a chance to chat a little about carving over a nice dinner at Spanky's. I meant to take a picture but I got too excited about going to the candy store. I'm sure you all didn't want to see our "mugs" again on here! Bart got a chance to meet my 15 month old....I'm sure he now realizes why I don't get a lot of carving done!

If you are ever traveling, try to stop in and visit other carvers if you get a chance. I still say that carvers are some of the nicest people you will ever meet!!

yes we had a good time also meeting up with blake and his family, it was a little hot where we went last night and the crowd was somewhat heavy but it was all good,
blake got lost in the candy store.we found him one time with his nose pressed up to the candy counter and had to make him stop{lololol just kidding he didnt really do that} and his 15 month old she is a hand full but just so cute,i tried my best to get her to talk to me but she wouldnt but one day she will. like blake said if you are traveling try and meet with other carvers it is alot of fun making new freinds.

Yes it is nice to meet others from the board. Glad you guys and families got together.
I sure enjoyed my short meeting with Garon(carver6) and Lynn. Very enjoyable and plan to meet them again.
I have several I want to meet, Well a lot but some probably won't happen because of locals. but on never knows.

Yes, when you travel, and get the chance to meet someone, do so. Really nice to put faces with Names.

We got back home today and I must say that it is a lot cooler up here in the mountains than it is down on the coast.

I'm still trying to get the sugar off my face where I had it pressed up against that window looking at those pralines in the Savannah candy store. I couldn't resist but to pick up some of those and some of the turtles....I like eating as much as I like carving! Can you tell??

Thanks again to Bart and his family! Look forward to seeing some of the other crew this year at the Hickory and Charlotte shows. If you are new to the carving world, get out to some of the shows...even if you have to travel. It's a great way to make some new friends and learn some new carving techniques!

Meeting members is one of the nicest side benefits of the message board. Good to hear folks share their own experiences in meeting members as well. Carvers are a breed all their own it seems, real, genuine, down to earth, nice folks, who enjoy sharing. Sharing their time, experience, knowledge, and their lives with other carvers. They are the best in my eye!
