Default Update on Shaycee

Shaycee's last doctor's visit was a good report. She is back in school daily, Building up energy, smiling and gigling. She has to go back once a month till Oct and if cancer free and she will be, every 3 months. The doctor said that Oct's visit is when he will take the tube out of her chest. The way I take it, they are leaveing it in till OCT just in case. It bothers her a little but she goes on her merry and smiling way. She is caught up in school and her and my darling granddaughter are making it rough on the teacher again. That a Girls!
All the ornaments are hanging in her room and the guardian angel is over her head. Jim, your Christmas cowboy is still being past back and forth between her brother and her.
Thank you all for your prayers, thoughtfulness and gifts. The family greatly appreciate it as well as I do.

It is always good news when things are going right with young people suffering with long term illness. One phenomena the medical community failed to adequately cover with my grand daughter, who is 5 and being treated for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) , is her attachment psychologically to the central line.

Satori's had been in a year and a half when she developed an infection that required its temporary removal. She reacted far more negatively to the removal of the central line than to the painful medical procedures she was undergoing. THEN the doctors told us that young patients react to removal as if a part of their body had been amputated. Makes sense when you realize how long they live with these things and how short a time they lived before the central line became a part of them.

Satori has another central line now; but, we are preparing her for when, a year and a half from now, it will be permanently removed.
