| | Update to Flea Market Find Good Morning All:
A couple of weeks ago I posted a thread about finding a bunch of tools at a Denver Flea Market which included a carved Harold Enlow tool.
The guy I bought them from indicated that he purchased them from a garage sale where the wife said the guy died and she was selling the tools.
In the box, I found a card for the Colorado Carvers club and a name. I contacted the club to inquire as to what might have happened to the carver and try to get the story on the Enlow carving.
Needless to say, I was surprised when I received an email from the guy this morning saying he was very much alive, and that he was the victim of a robbery in March of this year.
I am, of course, making arrangements to return everything to him, and he was most appreciative.
I told him that most of the wood carvers I know are honest and good people. I also told him that if this had happened to me, I would be thankful if someone did the same for me!
Have a great day everyone!

| | Re: Update to Flea Market Find Tim, you have renewed my faith in humanity! How wonderful of you to have made such a gesture. I'm sure that God will repay your honesty many fold!
Just about the time I feel there is little hope for this ol' world, someone like you comes along and sets my mind straight again. Thanks!

| | Re: Update to Flea Market Find I am glad you got a hold of him and he is getting something back from a horrible thing that he had to go through.
Are you able to direct him to the person you got them from to maybe find other items he may have that are for sale there?
Way to go again!!

| | Re: Update to Flea Market Find Guys:
As I write this, I just faxed my statement to the Denver PD. The detectives were amazed that anyone would be honest and try to make this right. Thanks for all of your kind comments--I just did what was the right thing to do.
The guy wanted me to keep part of the tools for my 'payment'. I said that there was no way I could ever keep anything that I did not get fairly and honestly, and that his appreciation was payment enough.
Sean, I did not get the name of the guy that I purchased them from. I think I'm a pretty good judge of character, but I actually think he might have been the purchaser after the robbery, not the actual robber.

Very thoughtful and nice to see an honest man. I think there are alot of them here. But that truly is outstanding.
I do hope that the carver your sending them too as least described them to you. And pays for shipping and refunds your cost , I know I would.

| | Re: Update to Flea Market Find I think carvers are a very honest group and you just proved it. I have sat in a few classes and have never hesitated to leave my tools laying out while going to lunch, etc. and have never missed a tool. This only applies if the public doesn't have access to the area. Your a fine man Tim! |
