Default A unique weekend

This has been a very strange weekend for me.

Remember when your oldest left home? Well my oldest did this weekend , moved in with a roommate. Very strange feelings, funny how even though he was gone most of the time , how empty the house became without him. But since my other son was home , it was different but not really quiet. But today he went back to school and now it is so quiet , I decided to do some carving .

Yet that was not all that happened.

This weekend Ron, entered his first carving show. I took his carvings so no one knew who's carvings they were. I am pround to announce that Ron , took second and third in class. Along with a judges award.

Ron, my friend although you lost to the elephant , it is quite an accomplishment to take a ribbon , and a judges award, with your sight. When the judges found out you were blind, after the awards, they were amazed.

CONGRATULATIONS!

well done.

And so you know the type of carving Ron lost too , it was a relief carving of entire door and it was an excellent carving .

Garry

Congratulations Ron!!!! Well done!

Ashby's, everyone feels differently when a child leaves home..... Some of us do a little dance and take over that bedroom as a work room for hobbies, etc...... as long as they are doing well in their new suroundings......

The kids leaving home for us was an easy transition, no problems, the rule always was they stay home until they are 18, then if they want they can move out if they are able to support themselves...and this was not a last minute thing, its something they and we knew for several years before the event.....I will admit it was strange at first ....not a lot because they were usually out working, doing things with the friends, hiking hunting skiing etc so weren't home much anyway.......the big problem? I had to wash my own cars LOL.....As for Ron winning the ribbons..........no surprises there at all! Way to Go Ron....give 'em something to talk about!! You know Ron, after posting that, I had another thought......you just raised the bar a notch or two!

Thanks everyone! I was quite surprised I won any. Especially thanks to Garry for taking time out of his busy schedule to take them up. I will see how well I do this weekend at the Wichita show.
