Great details with no missing parts. About 8" square base and a 6'-8" size figure (hard to tell because he is bent over). Great movement and anticipation in the piece. I have never bought one or seen a Trygg before so can anyone tell me if they have seen one before? Or one similar to it? What is a price range for this seemingly different piece?

Thanks,

Wheeler in Brockville

I found it very difficult to find Trygg info on the internet. I looked on the Wikipedia and they didn't have a thing. I rounded up all the stuff I knew and made two wikipedia pages with basic info and Trygg carving identification information.

The Carl Johan Trygg basics are at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Johan_Trygg

The Carl Olaf Trygg basics are at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Olaf_Trygg

The pictures in the wikipedia articles look really really familiar...

Hello,

Decided I would take a couple pictures of the 2 Trygg pieces from the shop. The Standing figure was by C.O. Trygg, Montreal 1931 (11" High) and the sitting Hobo with a 'Still' was by C.J. Trygg, Montreal, 1930. Both kind of neat. The pictures are Ok (not great).

I don't seem to know how to attach the pictures so if you want to see them, Email me! - Or teach me how to attach them!

I wouldn't mind having one just to see the scandanavian style, but I have seen them go pretty cheap and don't think they are going to be really valuable for a lonng time..not that they are not good carvings but because they were so prolific and did thousands of them...price is driven by supply and demand...in this case, a large supply!

Curt,

They are very nice Tryggs. Have you purchased them for your collection?

The standing bearded man isn't a golfer, just santa holding a cane! I won't buy both but I put a hold on the seated character with the 'still'. I find that when a piece stays in your mind for a few days, it is hard to not buy it.

He was asking $US 200 on the 1931 C.O. Trygg old 11" standing character with a cane. If you look close at the picture, you can see it is missing one of the bottom buttons. Other than that it was great.
