I had some free time and a twig while waiting around at the Dr's office. I carved a really tiny spoon just as a lark and to keep myself from chewing my nails off. I brought it home, sanded it nice and smooth to pretty it up, and placed it on my supposedly secure work space so I could coat it with oil the next night. Lo and behold, it isn't there anymore. So, either that cats have broken into yet another secure location and run off with the spoon OR the mice living in this 100yr old house have a refined sense of decorum and now have a mouse sized spoon to use.

I'll post pictures if I ever find the spoon. OF course I'm still looking for the nuthatch carving/ refrigerator magnet I made a couple of months ago. Pretty sure the cats got that one too.

ha...My cat loves my creations as well... She likes my bits of sandpaper too! She sleeps in my rafters in the summer...above my shop. I love to be sitting there carving and some dust falls on my shoulder...I look up and see her little head leaning over a board..."Mow" I think that means good morning and dont forget to leave the ends of your turkey sandwich for me
Good luck finding your spoon...I still have yet to find the basket I carved...It is probably up in her loft full of mouse goodies

Cats and carvings don't go well together. We use to have a cat that decieded to dismast on of my ships all by herself one evening. Poor ship looked like it had been through a hurricane in the morning!!! My own fault, we use to let her sleep in the basement, where my shop is. When you spend 400 - 600 hours or so on a ship model, you don't much like the results of a cats "adjustments"!

I wonder what ever happened to that cat, she wasn't around long after that? I guess the rigging didn't agree with her!
