Heck, Elwood, trolls are not so bad..in fact my brother is a troll. Well us'ns in the UP consider anyone in Lower Michigan "trolls". You know, those creatures that live below the bridge?

Ida know--I hear troll I think of the "Troll Doll" from when I was a kid.

Put a mallet and gouge in his hand--maybe a do-rag instead of the elf hat, and you're all set!

I should have known--I used to get welders caps--all kinds of colors--and I never heard the end of it! You'd think they'd know better than to come out with bright colored polka dot welders caps!?!

"Troll" doesn't congure up any bad thoughts from me. I think of trolls as "under the bridge keepers", but that's just an opportunist kind of job placement.
The doll image is non-threatening too.
Thor, whose imagery with my own name makes me feel big and strong.

I loved the Three Billy Goats Gruff story when i was a kid! I always thought the Troll was an interesting charactor who ate a lot of goat meat. So I tried it and it's very good! I'd stick to the small, younger ones too. The name's fine!

If you can find it, issue #10 Spring 2000, Harley Refsal wrote an article on the history of trolls and there is a pattern. It was one of my first and favorite carvings. Anyhow, to make a long history short, he claims trolls are now kinder and gentler, although still mischievious. From your pic, I'm not sure about the better dressed part. But that don't make you a bad fellar.
Will that work for you?
Jim
